Ahmir Jones Death: Authorities say an 18-year-old teen was shot and killed while walking home with his partner in near Temple University in Northside Philadelphia.
Officials say the victim Ahmir Jones was walking home with his girlfriend in Cecil B. Moore Avenue near 17th Street at about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, when a man armed with a gun forcefully collected his phone and a second man fired shots, striking Jones to to the chest.
Jones was pronounced dead on arrival to the Temple University hospital, where he was rushed to for treatments at about 4 a.m., police say.
Investigators say the shooter fled the scene and headed towards 18th Street from Cecil B. Moore Avenue. Investigation is currently ongoing.
Jones death marks the city’s 483 homicide.
