I’m still deeply saddened by the death of city of Tupelo grant writer Terri Blissard. In my time on the city government beat, she was always very knowledgeable about any questions I had but always avoided the spotlight.

Terri was an absolutely amazing person who passed from #covid19 this past weekend. Please join in prayer for her family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time.

Chickasaw County Emergency Management shares in the grief of the loss of Ms. Terri Blissard. Ms. Blissard was our go-to girl on grant writing questions. We could call on her and she always expressed how she loved helping her hometown as much as the City of Tupelo. What a great legacy she has left all of us, not just in her profession but as a compassionate soul

Today is a very difficult day for the City of Tupelo as we mourn the death of our coworker and friend, Terri Blissard. Terri lost her battle with COVID-19 yesterday at NMMC. Terri was the grant writer for our city, and her stellar work resulted in countless projects which benefited our community. She was an exemplary employee and a dear friend to each of us. We ask that you join us in prayer for her parents and family, as well as all of her colleagues here at Tupelo City Hall.

Our hearts are also heavy for our friends in Monroe County, who lost a Deputy Sheriff in the line of duty last night. Another Deputy Sheriff remains hospitalized. Our prayers go out to these families and the community of Monroe County

My cousin, Terri Blissard, passed away today from this terrible virus. I’ve heard that your cousins are your first friends, and I agree. We spent many years trading stickers through the mail and writing letters to each other every few weeks throughout our childhood. I spent many days at her house in Houston, during the summer, especially. Over and over, we skinned our knees on the scooter at our grandparent’s house and snuck grandma’s tea cakes from the kitchen. We spent hours playing with our Barbie dolls. As we got older, when we were both visiting my grandparents, we would walk to the Pontotoc Walmart to shop for makeup. After I got married and had my two boys, she was always thoughtful to remember them at Christmas and on their birthdays.
She was a wonderful cousin and friend. Please keep her parents Jahu and Jerrie in your prayers.

My colleagues and I lost a dear friend yesterday to COVID-19. Terri Blissard was the grant writer for the City of Tupelo. We are devastated over the loss of Terri. She was a quiet intellectual, never seeking attention for the amazing work she did. Many will never realize her work’s impact on the betterment of Tupelo and the countless projects which benefited our community. She was a kind and loyal friend, and we always knew we could count on Terri. And this is the tragedy of COVID-19—these beautiful souls taken from us. Please pray for her family, my coworkers, and all who loved Terri Blissard.

A classmate of mine lost her life to Covid-19 yesterday. Terri Blissard, thank you for always being such a great friend to me. You were such a light and a great Christian example to everyone you met. Your musical talent was extraordinary. Terri was an amazing person and is gone too soon. I’m in total shock and my heart is broken over this. She was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago and was okay besides just not feeling well. She was very happy that all of her co-workers tested negative and that was her last post. Even as she began to get sicker and had to go to the hospital she was still rejoicing and thinking of others before herself. That’s the kind of person she was. I will never forget all of our times together and the many laughs we had and all the times she helped me with Algebra in Mr. Hamilton’s class! Did I mention that she was extremely intelligent too? Just an all around intellectual, witty, talented, genuine, Christian, young lady! She will be missed by many! Please pray for her sweet parents. This was their only child. I spent time at there home and they are as precious as she was.

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
