The General Secretariat of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization condemned the heinous human crime that befell today the residents of the Bani Jaber camp in the Al Khawkhah district in western Yemen, as a result of militia shells that killed a woman and seriously injured a large number of displaced, innocent civilians residing in the camp.

The organization's general secretariat described this attack as despicable and provocative to the feelings of the innocent displaced Yemeni brothers, contrary to all human values and principles, and expressed its strong condemnation of this cowardly act.

The General Secretariat of the organization confirmed in a statement issued today that this crime is a flagrant violation of international law, especially international humanitarian law, which is based on the principle of immunity for the civilian population and the innocent, as it is not permissible in any way to attack people who do not participate in hostilities, including the displaced, and must keep and protect them.

The four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and Additional Protocol I of 1977 include specific provisions that protect civilians and civilian property in international and non-international armed conflicts, and affirm that the civilian population enjoys the right to protection under Article 3 common to the four Geneva Conventions. The organization expressed its regret at the reactions of some concerned international organizations and the international community and its failure to carry out its duties towards innocent Yemeni civilians who face deliberate targeting on an almost daily basis in full view of international bodies, and denounced this terrible international silence towards the crimes of those parties that repeatedly violate all principles. International and human rights.

In the same context, the organization called on the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and UNICEF to carry out their responsibilities and take urgent and practical measures to prevent these militias from committing more crimes that are in addition to what was previously committed by storming orphanages in the capital Sana'a and recruiting orphaned children as well as recruiting New children, and the use of UN and international humanitarian relief materials to barter poor families, in exchange for recruiting their children into their ranks or depriving them of them (fighting for food). It also called on the UN Security Council to refer the crimes of these militias to the International Criminal Court to prosecute their crimes against humanity, as well as the use of headquarters Governmental institutions, schools, and hospitals stockpile weapons, looting relief and humanitarian aid, obstructing its access, blackmailing the Yemeni people, and other crimes that represent a clear and explicit violation of international humanitarian law and a flagrant challenge to the international community.

It is noteworthy that the camp for the displaced in Bani Jaber in the Al-Khawkhah district in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, western Yemen, is among the projects allocated by the King Salman Relief Center in the field of shelter to accommodate the displaced. ‏
