Kirkwall in Orkney, Scotland, is the most welcoming and safest city in the UK, according to a new study. According to 24ae, the town is so safe that locals leave their doors unlocked and keys in their cars.

A taxi driver who lives in the area said he left his phone, wallet and car keys on the car seat, unlocked, for four days without it being stolen.

The city was founded 1,000 years ago, before it came under Scottish rule in the 15th century. Kirkwall was named the number one hospitality destination by Booking.com.

And it contains one hotel, Highland Park House, on top of a beautiful Victorian mansion, according to the British newspaper The Sun.
