A great loss was made known to InsideEko, Titi Gulley 31-year-old African American homeless transgender found hanging from a tree at Rocky Butte Park. on the 27th of May, 2020.

Titi Gulley (r) was found hanging at Rocky Butte, in Portland, a month ago. Cops at the scene called it a suicide, but so many people have said it was a murder her case is being reopened. The news reports can’t even call her by her name, opting for her birth name. If we can’t even SAY HER NAME, how the hell are we going to do anything for her and all of the black trans women and femmes who are being murdered and going missing? It was this time last year, Gigi Pierce, another black trans woman in Portland, was murdered, and yet most of us white queers just carry on with our We Are Family noise. The person who murdered Gigi got 100 days in jail, not for killing someone, but for not having a concealed handgun carry license. Titi mattered. Gigi mattered. Queer community looks to black trans femmes and women to create and inform “our” culture, past and present: drag, ball culture, Vogue, fashion, queer rebellion, emotional labor, entertainment in general (anyone else watching Pose?) and so on; and we won’t even keep them alive. The life expectancy of black trans women is 31. So far this year *at least* 12 have been murdered. As we head into pride, I am overwhelmed with pain and shame over how little attention we white queers, particularly cisgender ones, seem to have for this epidemic.

Friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Titi Gulley.

Having heard about this great loss, the family of this individual is passing through pains, mourning the unexpected passing of their beloved.

This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.

More details have not been released about this death. We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
