Nicholas A Oates Death – Nicholas A Oates, 33-year-old, of Silver Spring Maryland, a senior class student of Springbok High School and a Hockey player passed away. Nick was a defensive back hockey player who weights 188, his profile described him as an Aggressive, physical defensive back who is competing for starting position at strong safety, and has plenty of speed. He played as a wide receiver in 2008, he was  one of the Tigers’ most experienced defensive backs, a rangy player who covers a lot of ground has been hampered by injuries during career freshman “red shirt” in 2007 made one tackle and intercepted a pass, returning it 30 yards, in the 2011 Tiger Bowl. He was a very talented and hardworking young man.

Nicholas Oates was born on September 22, 1988, in Silver Spring Maryland, he was born to Nadene Riley who works as a nurse, he attended Springbrook High School. Nick has one brother with two sisters, he loves watching movies and playing Madden Football.  At Springbrook High School he was a first-team All-Montgomery 4A League at wide receiver also played defensive back for the Blue Devils he was also named as team’s Most Valuable Player who caught 26 passes for 465 yards and two touchdowns as a senior for Coach Rob Wendel. He helped Blue Devils post a 7-3 record. He was a member of the Blue Devils’ basketball team. He was working a summer job at Lifeguard. He is survived by his mother, brother, two sisters, classmates, teammates, and the entire Springbok community.

Marcus Valentine a close friend of Nicholas shared a tribute on Facebook expressing his sadness over his friend’s demise, the post read “My first roommate, my teammate, my friend, my brother, my ridah!! Bro this one hurt so bad! I’m heartbroken! If anyone knew who Nick Oates was they for sure were blessed to have him on their team and in their life! We’ve been through hell and back together bro and because of that, I’ll love you beyond life. I can’t believe this man, we just spoke! My fellow Tiger and Champion!
