Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump won the primary states of Florida and North Carolina, dealing a severe blow to his rival, Hillary Clinton, as announced by television networks.
Winning one or more of the southern states was crucial for both candidates. But Trump needed the state of Florida to collect the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the presidency.
