Tributes To Tyler Norton
Below are some of the statements shared across social media users’ timelines on the death of Norton.
“For those who have not already heard, we lost a member of the CP Family yesterday. Tyler Norton, his father Joseph and mother Bernadette passed away in a house fire early yesterday morning in Pottstown. Tyler had played at Springford, Limerick Panthers and the Canes and spent this past spring playing for the Nationals in our Majors division. Tyler was a dedicated teammate and friend and his parents were always keeping tabs on his current and former teammates to make sure they were doing well. We would like to express our sympathies to the Norton family.
The league has worked with Montgomery County to have grief counselors available for both players, coaches and parents tomorrow evening from 6:30 – 8:00 at the Rotary field. If anyone is struggling with this, especially the kids, please come tomorrow evening and take advantage of the resources provided. It is a difficult time for all and it helps to know that there are people out there who will listen.
We will also be holding a remembrance vigil tomorrow evening at dusk on the Rotary field (approx. 8:30 PM). We encourage all our families to attend to honor the family. There will be no formal agenda, just an opportunity to gather. Tyler’s #4 will be lit up on the scoreboards for the next 3 days.”
“When you’re part of an organization, you are part of something bigger than you; bigger than your team. You may not personally know all of the players, coaches or parents but you are all members of the same extended family. You play for the name on the front of the jersey and share a common bond.
Yesterday our extended family was rocked by the sudden, unfathomable loss of one of our own. Tyler Norton (12u Black) and his parents lost their lives in a house fire. A true tragedy of three lives gone too soon.
Our 10u Black team will dedicate the remainder of our season to the Norton family. We will honor Tyler by adding patches to our jerseys. A small gesture to pay our respects and remind of us all that life is bigger than baseball.
