Slovenian UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said that Barcelona's situation is "very serious" with regard to the "Negrera case" related to corruption incidents.
"Based on the information available to me, the situation is serious, so serious that it seems to me to be one of the most serious football issues since I started my work in this field," Schefrin said in an interview with the Slovenian sports newspaper Ikiba, according to what was reported by the Spanish news agency.
The official, who is seeking a new 4-year term, refused to go into further details of the case because, he said, "these matters are being carried out by an independent disciplinary committee."
However, he said that even if the case is outdated with regard to “La Liga”, there are ongoing procedures at the level of the Spanish prosecution.
"The same applies to the European Union (UEFA). We have nothing outdated.”
