The New York Stock Exchange began its trading (Tuesday) in decline because caution prevailed at a time when Americans were voting to choose their next president between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump, and the Dow Jones index fell 0.14% and the Nasdaq 0.23%. At around 14:40 GMT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 25.13 points to 18,234.47 points, and Nasdaq, which was dominated by shares of technology companies, fell 12,000 points to 5,154.17 points. As for the "Standard & Poor's 500" index, it fell 0.24% to 2126.50 points.
