“10 years ago, I met this sweet family. Of course, I didn’t know then that Whitney Lauf would become a fixture in our lives. She was one of the most genuine people I have ever met. The baby in that picture became one of my baby’s best buddies. The big brother ended up playing hockey with the oldest in my house. We were together for hockey tournaments, set up play dates, baseball, she cheered in the stands from two rows in front of my “spot” (every single time) with almost her entire family while my kids ran around with her kids, sent texts about teacher assignments and game times, and just talked about mom stuff. I want to hold fast to my faith and take comfort in the fact that she is in a place better than I could dream but it’s hard.”
She was so young and full of life. None of us could ever have imagined this. My heart is breaking for everyone that loved and continues to love her so much. A little over 2 weeks ago, she texted me to reschedule a play date because she had COVID. I naively expected her to swiftly recover. Covid is real and doesn’t play favorites. Pray for Whitney’s loved ones that they may find peace.
This death has caused a lot of friends and family of Heavey so much hurt. It is in that mourning spirit that the concerned persons have taken to social media to share tributes to the deceased and condolences to the affected family.
There are so many times that something in life happens and you just think, why. This is most certainly one of those times. Whitney Lauf went home to be with God last evening after fighting a hard fight against COVID. She is a mother of 4, wife, daughter, friend to many, and an old friend of mine. It’s been years since we’ve actually seen each other or spoken, but I followed her through Facebook and the flashes of dancing in her basement while we watched a concert on her TV LIVE (I think it was the Backstreet Boys) run through my head. She was always sweet and caring and a wonderful friend to have. Please say a prayer for all of her family and friends to help them get through this most difficult time in their lives. A beautiful soul went home much too soon
