Deputies are investigating after a woman was accidentally struck to the leg by gunfire outside her residence in Ramona Monday afternoon.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred in the 2100 block of Walnut Street at about 4:30 p. m. Arriving officials located and transported the woman to a hospital in the area. Officials say a person of interest was taken into custody from the scene.
Authorities did not say if the person they have in custody is responsible for the incident or another suspect would be sought after. Officers believe the shooting is not an intentional act.
The investigation is ongoing.
