The company responsible for parking lots in the historic area of Taif raised the hourly rental rates by 40%, coinciding with the start of Ramadan.
And “Okaz” monitored the prices for renting a car park before Ramadan, which were only 6 riyals, which were raised with the beginning of Ramadan to 10 riyals.
A number of dealers explained that the rise was exaggerated, after prices witnessed an increase before that.
Ahmed Al-Thaqafi pointed out that the company continues to tow violating cars, without limiting itself to setting fines for parking violations. And Talal Al-Otaibi stated that his vehicle was previously dislodged, claiming that there was a previous fine that was not paid, despite the family and financial circumstances that surrounded him.
Other dealers demanded the Taif Municipality to oblige the company to stop towing vehicles, which entails forcing the driver to pay the fine, in addition to the costs of towing doubled, and they noted the application of fines only without the withdrawal by the same procedure, as the Eastern Province Municipality applies.
“Okaz” contacted Fayez Al-Thubaiti, the spokesman for the Municipality of Taif, who explained that he would contact the Investments Department of the Municipality and respond later, while no response had been received as of writing the report.
