Day after day, tensions are exacerbating between Russia and NATO over the war in Ukraine. While NATO described Russia's nuclear threats as dangerous and irresponsible, commenting on Moscow's conclusion of an agreement with Belarus to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on its territory, the Secretary of the Russian National Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, accused NATO countries of becoming a major party to the conflict in Ukraine. In an interview with the Russian newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta, he said that these countries have become exposed, considering that they no longer hide their main goal of defeating and dividing Russia. He pointed out that the United States is at the forefront in the number of wars it has fueled and its violation of the sovereignty of states, as he put it.
It is noteworthy that the exchange of statements and accusations has become commonplace between Russia and NATO countries, since the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine last year.
Yesterday, NATO considered Russia's nuclear threats dangerous and irresponsible, commenting on the statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin about his country's conclusion of an agreement with its neighbor, Belarus, to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on its soil. The alliance announced that it closely monitors Russia's nuclear threats, noting that it has not recorded changes in Moscow's nuclear position that push the alliance to move. His spokesman said that Russia's statements about the role of NATO in any nuclear escalation are misleading, as he put it.
Putin announced two days ago that his country would respond to the West's supply of depleted uranium missiles to Ukraine, indicating that Russia possesses many weapons that it has not used yet. And he considered that those who use such weapons will in fact work against their people and pollute the cultivated areas, pointing out that the depleted uranium munitions that the West will send to Kiev are not considered weapons of mass destruction, but they leave radioactive dust, and therefore they are very dangerous. He announced that Moscow and Minsk had agreed to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus, and that the necessary berths for these aircraft were under construction in Belarus, and would be ready as of next July.
