In implementation of the agreement that took place last month between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and after the visit of a Saudi technical delegation to Tehran, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that a delegation from its side will arrive in Riyadh soon to discuss reopening the embassy, according to what was announced by the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, during a press conference, today (Monday). ).

Kanaani pointed out that "the first steps have been completed in order to appoint ambassadors between the two countries," adding that the process is continuing, according to what was reported by the Iranian "ISNA" agency.

With regard to the Yemeni file, the Iranian spokesman expressed his hope that the changes taking place in the region would help in a continuous cease-fire in Yemen, in preparation for a sustainable political process, declaring his country's support for extending the armistice between the Yemenis.

The duration of the armistice, which was mediated by the United Nations, ended on the second of last October, after two extensions, but the Yemeni parties did not reach an agreement to renew it after that.

A Saudi technical team concerned with discussing mechanisms for reopening the Kingdom's representations to Iran arrived in Tehran two days ago, in implementation of the joint tripartite agreement reached by Saudi Arabia, Iran and China last March, and as a continuation of what was agreed upon by the two sides during the talks that took place between the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan and his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, in Beijing (Thursday).

Riyadh and Tehran agreed in Beijing last March to resume the severed relations between them since 2016 and to reopen the two embassies within two months.
