The medical team at the Department of Vascular Surgery at King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital in Taif succeeded in removing a hematoma from a patient in her thirties. It was located in the middle of a very sensitive area between the arteries that supply the neck and brain and the arteries that supply the upper limb, specifically in the triangle where the neck meets the chest and the upper organ.
In the details, Taif Health spokesman Walid Al-Thaqafi stated that the patient visited the vascular clinic in the hospital, and after conducting clinical and radiological examinations in addition to the patient’s medical history, it was found that a large-sized cancerous tumor, dating back more than 28 years, had re-growth, causing an arteriovenous deformity and the formation of a hematoma in the area. The outputs of the chest are on the right side, while radiological examinations indicated the difficulty and sensitivity of the tumor site, which caused pressure on the nerves of the upper limb and pressure on the carotid artery and the subclavian artery.
Al-Thaqafi said that the medical team, consisting of Dr. Haitham Saleh Al-Bishri, Consultant Vascular Surgery, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Hamiani, Surgery Specialist, and Dr. Osama Al-Zoubi, Surgery Specialist, decided to perform a delicate surgery to remove the tumor, whose proximity to sensitive arterial and nerve areas represented a challenge for the team to perform the removal while preserving normal tissues. surrounding.
The operation was crowned with success, praise be to God, without the need to repair any of the arteries or nerves surrounding the tumor. The patient was discharged from the hospital two days later without any complications and is in good health.
