The spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abu Zeid, reaffirmed that Egypt's position from the outset was based on non-interference in this crisis, and a commitment to maintaining an equal distance with both sides. He affirmed Egypt's support for the United Nations Charter and international law in the resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly. The Egyptian official pointed out that Cairo urges the two sides to stop the war and reach a political solution through negotiations.
