Yemeni Information Minister Muammar al-Eryani described the progress made in the process of exchanging prisoners and abductees between the legitimate government and the Houthis as a long-awaited "positive step" on the road to building trust and showing goodwill. He said in a tweet today (Saturday): "This step was able to draw a smile on the faces of thousands of families, and planted hope and restored the spirit of optimism in the hearts of millions of Yemenis about the possibility of making peace after they were exhausted by the years of war triggered by the coup."
Al-Eryani appreciated the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in completing this deal, its efforts to revive the peace process in Yemen, and the efforts made by the negotiating committee in the coalition to facilitate the prisoner exchange process. He thanked the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross for their role in bringing the two sides closer and organizing exchange procedures until reaching this historic moment.
He announced the arrival of the second batch of those liberated from the detention centers of the Houthi militia, as part of the second process of exchanging prisoners and abductees, which included two from the December uprising, Brigadier General Muhammad Muhammad Abdullah Saleh and Captain Afash Tariq Muhammad Abdullah Saleh, who arrived in Riyadh after nearly 5 years of detention. In militia detention centers, in addition to 19 of the brothers in the Legitimacy Support Coalition.
