Today (Wednesday), the US Central Command announced the arrest of a prominent member of the terrorist organization ISIS in Syria and two of his accomplices, stressing that the US military carried out a helicopter operation in eastern Syria late on Saturday.
The US Central Command said in a statement: "The arrest of Hudhayfah al-Yamani and his aides will disrupt the organization's ability to plan and carry out operations," noting that the operation did not result in the death or injury of civilians.
This month, the US military announced the targeting of a senior ISIS leader in Syria, Khaled Ahmed al-Jubouri, indicating that he was responsible for planning ISIS attacks in Europe and Turkey and developing the organization's leadership structure in Turkey.
The US military said this month that it had killed a senior leader of the "Islamic State" organization in Syria, called Khaled Ahmed al-Jubouri. Washington stated that al-Jubouri was responsible for planning ISIS attacks in Europe and Turkey and developing the organization's leadership structure in Turkey.
The US military command center said in a statement that al-Jubouri was killed in a unilateral strike in northwestern Syria, and the US Central Command commander, General Michael Korella, confirmed: "ISIS continues to pose a threat to the region and beyond."
He pointed out that there are no indications of civilian casualties as a result of the strike, indicating that the killing of al-Jubouri will temporarily disrupt the organization's ability to plan external attacks.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights had said that al-Jubouri arrived 10 days ago in an area located in Idlib countryside, northern Syria, indicating that the leader was killed after he was targeted near his house, while he was walking while making a phone call.
The observatory indicated that a drone targeted it, and that an explosion was heard on the “Kaftin-Kalli” road in the northern countryside of Idlib.
