The victory achieved by the Holy Prophet – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – and his companions in the Battle of Badr was not just a victory in a battle, or superiority in a war confrontation, but rather an eternal lesson in trust in God, patience, taking reasons, responding and obedience to the ruler.
The victory of the Battle of Badr was the gateway to victories in the month of patience and victory over oneself, a starting point for victory over adversaries and enemies, and the numbers and equipment were not equal, except that reliance on God is the cause of causes and the Revealer of the Book, and who has the soldiers of the heavens and the earth, is the secret of turning the equation “How many of a few group I conquered many groups, God willing.”
The narrators mention that the Battle of Badr took place on the morning of Monday 17 Ramadan in the second year of the Hijrah, and Badr was a station for the passage of caravans heading to the Levant and returning to Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and it is considered one of the famous Arab markets; Due to its geographical location between Makkah and Madinah at the bottom of Wadi Al-Safra.
The Prophet – upon him be peace and blessings be upon him – and the Companions were informed of the movement of a large caravan carrying great money for the Quraysh returning from the Levant under the leadership of Abu Sufyan Sakhr bin Harb, so 300 and a few ten men left the Muslims, on two horses and 70 camels. And Abu Sufyan knew that the Muslims had set out to intercept the convoy, so he took it along the coast road, and sent a delegate to mobilize the people of Makkah. A thousand fighters came out of them, and with them two hundred horses.
The Muslims arrived at Badr before the polytheists, and Al-Habab Ibn Al-Mundhir – may God be pleased with him – advised the Prophet – may God bless him and grant him peace – to make the water of Badr behind him, so the Prophet – may God bless him and grant him peace – accepted his advice and took his opinion. And – may God bless him and grant him peace – the wrestler of men from the people of Badr with their names, and he said: “This is the death of so-and-so tomorrow, God willing, and this is the death of so-and-so tomorrow, God willing.” On the morning of the day of the battle, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, he made his army lined up to fight, and he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, remained in the dome of (Arish) – with the advice of Saad bin Moaz – directing the battle, and made – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – a lot of supplication to his Lord, until His cloak fell off, and Abu Bakr came to him and said: O Prophet of God, stop pleading with your Lord, for He will fulfill what He promised you. And they take the back.
And – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – threw pebbles at the polytheists in their faces. The Almighty said: “And I did not throw when I threw, but God threw.” Among the dead were a number of Quraysh leaders, including: Abu Jahl Amr bin Hisham, who was killed by Muadh bin Amr bin Al-Jumuh, and Muadh bin Amr bin Al-Jumuh. bin Afra; They are two boys, and Abdullah bin Masoud killed him, and Bilal killed Umayyah bin Khalaf and his son, and the number of prisoners from Quraish was 70 men, and the rest of the polytheists fled, leaving behind many spoils on the battlefield, and 14 of the companions were martyred.
The Battle of Badr, despite its small size, is considered a watershed battle in the history of Islam, and God Almighty called it the Day of Criterion. And above his word.
