The Russian ambassador to Khartoum, Andrei Chernovol, announced that the Sudanese army does not want to negotiate with the Rapid Support Forces, describing them as rebels.
He said in a statement to "TASS" agency, today (Sunday), that the Sudanese army announced that there will be no negotiations with the rebels. He described the Rapid Support Forces as rebels, and at the same time called on everyone to join the ranks of his armed forces.
Meanwhile, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, regarding the ongoing clashes in the Sudanese arena.
According to the Egyptian Presidency Spokesperson, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, the call dealt with the recent developments in Sudan, in light of the historical ties and distinguished fraternal relations between the three countries, and the role of Egypt and South Sudan in supporting the stability and safety of Sudan. The two presidents stressed the seriousness of the current situation and the ongoing military clashes, affirming full support for the brotherly Sudanese people in their aspirations towards achieving security, stability and peace. The spokesman added that the two presidents called for an immediate cease-fire in Sudan, calling on all parties to calm down, give priority to the voice of wisdom and peaceful dialogue, and uphold the supreme interest of the Sudanese people.
The two presidents expressed the readiness of Egypt and South Sudan to mediate between the Sudanese parties, as the escalation of violence will only lead to a further deterioration of the situation, which may get it out of control, stressing that the consolidation of security and stability is the guarantor of the completion of the political transitional path, and the achievement of construction and development. in Sudan.
