Dallah Al-Nakheel Hospital in the city of Riyadh conducted the first case of cerebral catheterization to withdraw a clot, for a seventy-year-old woman who had an acute stroke, in record time from the patient's arrival at the hospital.
In detail, upon the arrival of the seventy-year-old patient to the hospital, the specialized medical team proceeded with the case, and after conducting careful examinations of the patient, it became clear that she had a blockage in one of the main arteries feeding the patient's brain, which led to her suffering an acute stroke. The medical team reported that the acute stroke led to speech difficulties, in addition to severe weakness in the right part of the patient's body, which resulted in slackness (tilt) in the face, which led to severe difficulties in the patient's movement.
Commenting on this case, Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Saad Al-Dukkan, consultant of neurosurgery, neurointerventional radiology, and cerebral catheterization at Dallah Al-Nakheel Hospital, said: “Dallah Al-Nakheel Hospital succeeded in performing a clot withdrawal operation for a seventy-year-old patient, and in a record time after the symptoms appeared on her, so that she would immediately receive the necessary medical treatment, and that By giving her a clot solvent, in addition to subjecting her to a cerebral catheter and withdrawing the clot by placing a temporary stent, after which the patient regains the ability to speak and also the ability to move in the right part of her injured body,” explaining that this is the first case to be conducted in Dallah Al-Nakheel Hospital, specifically.
