The Council of Economic and Development Affairs held a meeting via videoconference, and during its meeting it was briefed on a number of reports, presentations and topics on its agenda, including the presentation submitted by the Ministry of Health regarding the latest health developments related to the Corona pandemic (Covid-19).
The Council reviewed a number of economic and development issues, including the periodic presentation submitted by the Ministry of Economy and Planning regarding local and global economic developments, which included a breakdown of the most important indicators related to the national economy, especially the growth witnessed by the sectors of the national economy at the level of a large number of sectors and activities during the period. The presentation also included a comprehensive look at the conditions of the global economy and the developments witnessed during the last period, and an analysis of the most prominent indicators.
The Council also reviewed the presentation submitted by the Public Investment Fund in coordination with the relevant authorities regarding the level of progress made in major projects (NEOM, the Red Sea Project, Qiddiya, Roshan, Diriyah Gate).
The Council discussed the presentation submitted by the Ministry of Tourism on the transformation of the tourism sector since the launch of the National Tourism Strategy, as it dealt with the most important updates and achievements at the level of the tourism sector in the Kingdom, the strategic directions of the sector, and the most prominent future steps, as well as indicators of the sector's contribution to development. The council took the necessary decisions and recommendations regarding those issues.
