The Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) and the (Telegram) platform, during the period from (January-March) 2023, removed (6,004,218) extremist content, and closed (1840) channels that were used to broadcast and promote extremist ideas, belonging to three terrorist organizations (ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham).
The (Etidal) team was able to monitor the extremist digital activity of the three organizations in Arabic on the (Telegram) platform, which came as follows: (2,773,902) extremist content in 477 channels belonging to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, (1,807,215) extremist content in (1040) channels belonging to the organization. ISIS, while the terrorist Al-Qaeda organization had (1,423,101) extremist content on (323) channels.
On January 9, 2023, the Etidal Monitoring Team recorded the highest activity in broadcasting extremist content via Telegram for the organizations referred to as (451,911) extremist content, and on March 27, the highest activity in creating extremist channels for those organizations with about (101). channel in one day.
It is noteworthy that the joint cooperation between the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) and the (Telegram) platform continues for the second year in a row, bringing the number of extremist content removed from February 2022 to date (21,026,169) and closing (8664) extremist channels.
