Gunmen killed the preacher of the Eid prayer, today (Friday), when they intercepted his car while he was returning to his home in one of the areas of the Beihan district in Shabwa governorate, eastern Yemen, and others were injured, including a number of the dead man's children.

Local sources reported that the gunmen intercepted the car of Abdullah Al-Bani, the preacher of the Eid prayer in the airport area of Beihan district, while he was returning home after the prayer, and fired a barrage of bullets at him, killing him and injuring a number of his guards and a number of his children who were with him in the car.

The sources attributed the incident to disagreements between Al-Bani and others before performing the Eid prayer, about who will perform the Eid Al-Fitr sermon and lead the worshipers.

According to the same sources, the disputes escalated to the point of quarrels before the situation erupted between the two parties and they exchanged fire near the Eid prayer square in the airport area.

The state of tension continued by the gunmen after Al-Khatib Al-Bani ascended the pulpit, so they monitored him through an ambush, and he was targeted and killed.
