Today (Saturday), former Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok called on the warring military parties for a ceasefire, stressing that a peaceful solution in the country is still possible.
Hamdok said in a recorded speech that he posted on his Facebook account today: "War in Sudan means war in the region, but a peaceful solution is still possible," warning that his country faces the danger of disintegration.
Hamdouk called on the army commander, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and the rapid support commander, Lieutenant General Daglo, to stop firing immediately, and the voice of reason must be arbitrated, as the loss will be the share of everyone, and there is no victor over the corpses of his people, indicating that the Sudanese are the victims and they must increase cohesion, and that the components of society unite and reject The prevailing discourse of hostility.
The former prime minister addressed the regional and international community and global peace-lovers by saying: "We ask you to do your duty to resolve and calm the warring parties."
The army commander, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, confirmed that the Rapid Support Forces initiated the battles, stressing that the armed forces had enough to defeat these rebels.
Al-Burhan said, "The armed forces had no choice but to confront the rebels' aspirations for power," as he put it.
