Amid continued confrontations and heavy gunfire, especially in the vicinity of the General Command in Khartoum, between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese army for the fourth day in a row, the Rapid Support Forces announced through its commander, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo “Hamidati,” that he had agreed to an American proposal for a 24-hour truce to ensure the safe passage of civilians and the evacuation of the wounded. .

He said in a tweet on his Twitter account, today (Tuesday), "The Rapid Support Forces agreed to a truce for 24 hours after a call with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken."

On the other hand, the Sudanese army announced that it was not aware of any coordination with the mediators and the international community regarding the implementation of a truce.

He said, "The Rapid Support Forces' announcement of entering into a truce aims to cover up its crushing defeat, considering that the war has entered a decisive stage, and the army confirmed that its efforts are focused on achieving operational goals."

He added, "We are surprised by the RSF's talk of a truce while mobilizing a large force in Marawi, pointing out that the RSF is preparing to receive military aid at Marawi airport, and is mobilizing its forces in Nyala, El Fasher and El Geneina to send them to Khartoum."

Blinken had announced earlier that he had called Al-Burhan and Daglo, and called for a 24-hour cease-fire, holding both sides responsible for protecting civilians. He stated that he had communicated with his counterparts in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Britain about the situation in Sudan.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese Ministry of Interior issued a decision to terminate the mandate of all police officers in the Rapid Support Forces.

With the death toll among civilians rising to 144, and hundreds of students besieged at the University of Khartoum, as well as dozens of patients in hospitals, calls are being made to stop the violence and declare an immediate truce. UN envoy Volker Peretz revealed to the Security Council, yesterday evening (Monday), that the warring parties They are not currently ready for a cease-fire and negotiations, stressing that they began mobilizing the military weeks before the Marawi base incident. He said that the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces is unable to give instructions to its forces, due to the lack or loss of communication in many cases, between the command and the field forces.

The UN envoy briefed the Council on the looting of United Nations headquarters in Darfur, stressing that if the situation continues to escalate, he will have to withdraw unnecessary international staff, their families and children from Darfur to Khartoum, especially since they currently have no plan to leave the country, in light of the stoppage of the capital's airport. the job.

According to what two well-informed sources confirmed to Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath channels today, the two sides (the army and support) were mobilizing and preparing weeks before the clashes.
