The Sudanese army denied allegations that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) had taken control of its headquarters. "We are managing the battle as planned and sticking to all our positions," he said. In a statement, today (Monday), he renewed the call for the Rapid Support personnel to end their assignment and return to the armed forces, and affirmed adherence to all headquarters, and said: “We are very close to the moment of decisiveness, and we have moved to the final stage of the operation plan, which is the stage of chasing the enemy whose elements are currently fleeing in everywhere".
The Sudanese army spokesman acknowledged the entry of the Rapid Support Forces to Marawi airport, and said that Marawi airport will be restored as soon as possible, as the clashes are currently taking place. "Today's clashes are much less intense than the previous two days," he said. He said, "The clashes are concentrated around the General Command and the Republican Palace." He denied the RSF's control of any army headquarters, saying: "We are confronting attempts to storm military headquarters."
A source in the Sudanese army denied what the RSF published about the storming of the residence of the army commander, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, pointing out that the video of the RSF storming Al-Burhan's headquarters was "misleading." He added that the clashes took place around the headquarters of Al-Burhan and the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Muhammad Hamdan Hamidti, and they were removed.
For its part, the General Command of the Sudanese Armed Forces announced that "some of the media mouthpieces of the rebel militia are broadcasting many lies to mislead public opinion." She added that the operational situation so far in the capital includes limited clashes around the vicinity of the General Command and central Khartoum. And she emphasized that the armed forces completely control all of its headquarters, and there is no truth to what is being circulated regarding the rapid support’s takeover of the leadership, the guest house, or the presidential palace.
And she added, "Our air forces carried out strikes against a number of hostile targets, and this will continue until the liquidation of the last pocket of the rebel militia in the capital, in which it began to engage in sporadic looting and looting under threat of the property of defenseless citizens."
On Sunday evening, the Sudanese army announced the control of the Merowe military airport, the leadership of the Kordofan sector and the "Egyptian Irrigation" camp in the suburb of Al-Shajara. He stressed that he would remain committed to the Covenant and would not back down from implementing the political path to which he was committed.
For his part, the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo (Hamedti), called on the international community to act now and intervene in Sudan. And he considered, in a tweet on Twitter today, that “the battle we are fighting now is the price of democracy. We did not attack anyone, but rather our actions are just a response to the blockade and the attack on our forces.
