A spokesman for the National Security Council at the White House, John Kirby, announced today (Monday) that the extent of the leaked documents' harm to US national security is unknown, indicating that the concerned US agencies have not yet determined how the secret Pentagon documents were leaked and the circumstances are still hazy.

Kirby said: It is not yet known how these secret documents were leaked, explaining that Washington will continue to support Ukraine even after the secret documents were leaked.

He added: US President Joe Biden is in contact with national security officials after the documents were leaked, pointing out that the information that was leaked had changed its content.

The Pentagon had confirmed that the leaking of classified US documents poses a serious security risk, indicating that it had taken steps to find out the identity of the people who viewed them.

The Pentagon said in a statement today that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was informed of the leaked documents on April 6, explaining that details in the leaked documents could cause loss of life.

He pointed out that senior officials are communicating with countries around the world to confirm the safety of intelligence work, describing the leaked documents as highly classified.

The Pentagon stated that the leaked documents are similar to those presented to senior leaders, noting that some of the images in the leaked documents have been modified.

And two US officials had confirmed that the US national security agencies are striving to deal with the repercussions of the leaking of dozens of classified documents, including the impact of these leaks on the exchange of sensitive information between government institutions and on relations with other countries, explaining that the Pentagon is reviewing the procedures that govern the scope in which it takes place.
