The writer and political analyst, Mubarak Al Aati, explained to Okaz that with the momentum of reconciliations in the Middle East and the trend towards calm and peace and finding political solutions to the region's crises, the visit of the Syrian Foreign Minister came at the invitation of the Kingdom to discuss the efforts made to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis that preserves Syria's unity, security, stability, Arab identity and territorial integrity.
He said: This step confirms the Kingdom's keenness to support the efforts made to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis, the growing awareness of the importance of ending the Syrian crisis, since its continuation without treatment will exacerbate the suffering of the brotherly Syrian people.
He added: The Kingdom has been, and continues to be, since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, supportive of finding a political solution to the crisis, as the stability and security of Syria would accelerate the end of the crisis inside Syria, contribute to the return of Syrian refugees to their areas, and provide the appropriate environment for humanitarian aid to reach all regions in Syria. He pointed out that the visit of the Syrian Foreign Minister to the Kingdom will contribute to strengthening joint action to implement the necessary steps to achieve a comprehensive political settlement to the Syrian crisis that ends all its repercussions, achieves national reconciliation, and contributes to the return of Syria to its Arab surroundings and the preservation of its Arab identity and unity.
He pointed out that the resumption of consular work and the return of flights between the Kingdom and Syria will address many problems and difficulties faced by some citizens of the two countries and enhance communication between the peoples of the two countries.
Finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis strengthens the existing efforts to combat terrorism, eliminate terrorist organizations that threaten the security of Syria and the Arab countries, stop drug smuggling and trafficking to the countries of the region, and extend the control of state institutions over their lands to end the presence of armed militias and foreign interventions.
