President Vladimir Putin on Sunday held a working meeting with State Councilor of the People's Republic of China and Minister of Defense Li Shangfu, according to the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
"There is good development in all directions, including within the military departments," Putin said during a meeting with the Chinese defense minister.
Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Tan Kafei said that, at the invitation of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Li Changfu will pay an official visit to Russia from April 16 to 19, stressing that the Minister of Defense will hold talks with Russian military leaders and visit Russian military academies.
Chinese President Xi Jiping arrived in Moscow last March at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin for an official visit, which is Xi Jinping's first trip abroad since his re-election as Chinese president.
In extensive talks, the two presidents discussed deepening partnership and strategic interaction.
