Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, said that Saudi Arabia and Egypt are calling for an urgent meeting of the League Council at the level of permanent delegates to discuss the situation in Sudan.
It is noteworthy that the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, expressed deep concern and annoyance about the current combat operations between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the capital, Khartoum, and other areas. The Secretary-General of the Arab League stressed the responsibility of the warring parties to preserve the security and safety of Sudanese civilians in the fighting areas and the whole country, and the need to stop the escalation and stop bloodshed immediately. He added that the General Secretariat was ready to intervene with the parties to achieve this.
