Today (Tuesday), the Sudanese army announced the expulsion of members of the Rapid Support Forces from Marawi airport, accusing the Rapid Support Forces of not adhering to the truce that was announced today for 24 hours.
The Sudanese army said in a statement: “Our forces forced the Rapid Support Forces to withdraw from the airport and take complete control of it,” indicating that its forces control all areas east of the Nile.
The army confirmed the arrest of the commander of the Rapid Support Forces in Marawi, noting that his forces were able to achieve great successes in the field.
The army spokesman said: The Rapid Support Forces did not stop their skirmishes in the vicinity of the General Command and Khartoum Airport, explaining that the escape of the Rapid Support Forces from Marawi Airport came after dealing with them with the Air Force and inflicting heavy losses on them.
He pointed out that the second phase of the process of securing the areas surrounding the General Command, all the way to the center of Khartoum, began today, pointing out that the army forces responded to an attempt to storm the Rapid Support Division of the Fifth Division, west of El-Obeid.
The army spokesman accused what he called regional and local parties of supporting the Rapid Support Forces and that he possesses accurate information about the conspiracy, vowing to reveal it in the coming days.
