The spokesman for the coalition forces, the “Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen,” Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, announced the arrival of (19) prisoners from the coalition forces at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh today (Saturday) 15 April 2023, including (16) Saudi prisoners and ( 3) Sudanese prisoners, as part of the prisoner exchange process in exchange for the release of (250) Houthi prisoners who left Abha International Airport to Sana'a.

Upon their arrival at King Khalid International Airport, the returnees were received by the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Fayyad Al-Ruwaili, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Commander of the Joint Forces, Lieutenant General Mutlaq bin Salem Al-Azima, Their Highnesses and Excellencies the leaders of the armed forces branches, and the head of the military apparatus in the Ministry of Defense. The National Guard, Major General Muhammad bin Zaid Al-Qahtani, and the military attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in the Kingdom, Brigadier General Muhammad Abdul Wahed Absher.

Brigadier General Al-Maliki indicated that the prisoner exchange process is of great interest to the political and military leadership of the coalition to end the prisoner file and restore all prisoners and detainees.

Brigadier General Al-Maliki concluded his statement by appreciating the leadership of the joint forces of the coalition, the efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, for supporting and making the exchange of prisoners and detainees a success.
