The Food and Drug Authority stated that there is no truth to what is being circulated about the fact that multi-flavored fruit drinks in the form of “powder” contain some harmful chemicals, including calcium phosphate that destroys bones.

The SFDA stressed that all ingredients included in the composition of any food item are evaluated for their safety, and it is not allowed to add any substance that has a negative impact on health.

The authority advised consumers to reduce consumption of these drinks, as they contain high amounts of sugar and low nutritional value, and the need to read product labels carefully to ensure that they contain appropriate amounts of nutritional ingredients.

The “SFDA” had issued a guide for juice manufacturers and importers to identify the most important requirements of “Saudi Technical Regulation 5012 SFDA.FD” “labeling of juices, nectars and fruit drinks”, with the aim of enabling the consumer to choose healthier products (high in nutritional value), as well as to know their content. of fruit juice by looking at its label on the front of the product.
