A Yemeni official revealed that the prisoner exchange deal agreed upon with the Houthis will start (Thursday) and last for three days, provided that it includes flights between the capital, Sana'a, Aden, and other regions in Yemen, in addition to the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The delegation of the legitimate government in the negotiations for the exchange of prisoners and detainees confirmed the completion of the arrangements for the implementation of the agreed exchange process at the specified time.

A member of the government delegation, Majed Fadael, said, in a tweet to him, today (Tuesday), that everyone is ready to implement the agreed exchange process, pointing out that this exchange process will be followed by other exchanges soon until all detainees and abductees are released and released “on the basis of all.” In return for all, and whistling all the detention centers and prisons. He added that the implementation will start on April 13, 2023, and the first day of the exchange process will be through reciprocal flights of the Red Cross between Aden and Sana’a, explaining that it will be followed on the next day by flights between Sana’a, Riyadh, Abha and Mocha, with the third day’s flights between Marib and Sana’a.

He stated that the first exchange batch will include 72 prisoners, and that more than 1,400 civilians are still detained in the prisons of the Houthi militia.

Last month, negotiations between the legitimacy and Houthi delegations in Berne reached an agreement to exchange more than 887 prisoners, in a new sign of hope with the acceleration of efforts to end the war.

Under the agreement, the Houthis will release 181 prisoners, in exchange for 706 detainees held by government forces.

In the last major exchange that took place in October 2020, more than 1,050 prisoners were released and returned to their regions or countries, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
