Sources told Reuters that a Saudi-Omani delegation intends to travel to Sanaa next week to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement in Yemen. The agency quoted the sources as saying today (Friday): If an agreement is reached, the parties may announce this agreement before the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which begins on April 20. The agency added that the discussions will focus on fully reopening Yemeni ports and airports, paying public servants' wages, the reconstruction process, and the political transition.
And press sources revealed that the draft comprehensive peace plan for the crisis in Yemen is in the last stages of its preparation under UN auspices. The draft includes 4 stages, the first of which is: a comprehensive ceasefire, the opening of all land, air and sea outlets, the formation of committees to merge the Central Bank, the exchange of prisoners and detainees, the stage of direct negotiation to establish the form of the state, and finally the transitional stage.
Members of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council hold continuous meetings in Riyadh to discuss the challenges facing the government and possible solutions, in addition to the peace map in Yemen. Yemeni sources expected that the legitimate government would present its peace vision to UN envoy Hans Grindoberg in the coming days, especially since the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, had previously announced the government's approval of a permanent armistice and the start of completing preparations for comprehensive and lasting peace negotiations.
