Military aircraft are flying over the Sudanese capital, amidst a UN movement to try to contain the escalation and prevent the crisis from worsening, in light of clashes between the army forces and the Rapid Support Forces. A Sudanese military source announced the flight of warplanes from Wadi Sayedna military base, in a dangerous indication of escalation. Eyewitnesses confirmed the flight of military aircraft over Khartoum International Airport.

In a previous statement, the Sudanese army said: We will continue to confront the brutal aggression and exercise our national and constitutional duty to protect our country from this treacherous scheme. He added: We are fighting the battle of national dignity, which was long overdue, to rid our country of opportunists and rebels.

The army confirmed that its forces are confronting the militia's attempt to control the presidential palace and the general command.

He revealed that individuals and officers of the Support Forces fled from their headquarters and left all their equipment in the streets, adding that the field commander of the Rapid Support Forces was injured in the clashes that erupted in central Khartoum.

He stressed the continuation of the qualitative operations of his Air Force and drones against the Rapid Support Forces, pointing out that the Sudanese people will hear good news in the coming hours.

In this context, the head of the UN Mission to Support the Transition in Sudan, Volker Peretz, is making contacts to contain the escalation. The head of the Umma Party and a prominent leader of the Central Council for Freedom and Change, Major General Fadlallah Barmah Nasser, informed, in a phone call, that he had prepared an urgent report to the UN Security Council.

He made contacts with the European Union about the ongoing fighting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, with the aim of limiting the escalation and ongoing battles, according to the same sources.
