The Consultation and Reconciliation Commission in Yemen announced, today (Tuesday), support for peace efforts, to ensure the resolution of major issues, appreciating the mediation efforts led by the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen.

In its statement, the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission stressed the people's need for a just, comprehensive and lasting peace, so that everyone can achieve their legitimate political aspirations through negotiation and dialogue, pointing to the importance of supporting the economy and helping the Yemeni people to overcome their difficult economic and humanitarian conditions. The statement praised the efforts and keenness of the Presidential Leadership Council to achieve peace and stability.

The commission pointed out the importance of the joint negotiating delegation assuming its tasks and responsibilities under the supervision of the Council, stressing the importance of agreeing on all stages, not providing any opportunity to veto the charters and obliging the Houthi group to implement serious and practical steps in the confidence-building phase.

At the outset of the meeting, the Presidency of the Commission gave a briefing on the developments in the mediation efforts led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the aim of stabilizing the truce and starting a comprehensive political process, as well as the contacts and visits of the Presidency of the Commission and its meetings during the last period since the last meeting of the Commission.

The Commission approved the submission of a number of written recommendations and proposals to the Presidential Leadership Council, and the caveats that necessitate attention to them in the political process within the framework of the Commission’s mission of supporting and aiding the Leadership Council. The meeting also discussed a number of proposals submitted by members of the Commission within the framework of the Commission’s work and tasks.
